A Thing of Beauty Summary in English and Hindi

A Thing of Beauty About The Poem
Keats was a nineteenth-century British romantic poet. This poem is an excerpt from his longer poem ‘Endymion’and forms its beginning. In this poem the poet says that a beautiful thing gives us permanent joy. But his concept of beauty goes beyond only physical charm. Beauty lies in a mountain scene, a good painting, a magnificent building or a melodious tune. Life is full of joys and sorrows. We often suffer physical or emotional pain. We may face failure, treachery or misfortune. But when we hear a lovely sound or see a lovely thing, our sadness is lifted.

A Thing of Beauty Summary Of The Poem
In this poem, the poet says that beautiful thing is the eternal source of joy. Its loveliness does not decrease with the passing of time. On the other hand, it goes on increasing. Beautiful things are as soothing as the cooling shade of a bower or sound health or mental peace. These things give sleep full of sweet dreams. The beautiful things bind us to the earth. For the sake of beautiful things, we keep our contact with nature alive.

When we look at a beautiful thing, we forget our worries for sometime. Despair and sorrows are unavoidable part of life. Yet the beautiful things help us to keep our despair and sorrows away. We forget the wickedness of man and the hardships of life. In spite of the harshness of life, nature brightens up our mood. The joy given by the beautiful things removes the pall of despair from our hearts.

Nature is a storehouse of beauty. There are many beautiful things in nature. The heavenly bodies like the sun and the moon are fascinating. The trees look beautiful and also provide us shade. One enjoys sound sleep under their shade in summer. The daffodil flowers are very charming. The streams that flow through a cool tunnel in summer are the examples of beauty in nature. There are plants on either side of the stream. That provides a shady passage to them. The bushes bearing fragrant musk rose flowers are also charming.

Apart from nature, the world of literature also gives us pleasure. The glorious achievements of heroes are as exciting as their fall and death. The tales which we hear or read give us joy. These tales are an immortal fountain of endless joy. They are like the heavenly drink offered to us.
