The Bear Story Summary in English
Once a lady lived on the border of a big forest. She had a pet bear, she had brought it up. As years passed, bear grew to be a big one. He was very amiable and did not wish to harm anyone. Even the children and dogs played with him. He ate out of the same plate with dogs. He craved to have apples but had to satisfy by watching apples that fell to the ground. Only at night he was put on chain.
On Sunday he was put on chain as his mistress went to spend day with his married sister. On one Sunday, half way she heard cracking of a tree branch. When she looked back, she was horrified to see the bear at full speed. The lady was very angry. She shrieked at him and even hit on the nose. With great difficulty the bear turned back.
When the lady came back, she got very angry. She went to scold the bear but cook interfered to tell that bear had behaved in the best way. At that time lady realised that she had met some other bear.

किसी समय एक महिला जंगल के किनारे रहती थी। उसके पास एक पालतू भालू था। उसने उसे पाल-पोसकर बड़ा किया था। जैसे ही वर्ष बीतते गए. भालू बड़ा हो गया। वह बहुत ही मिलनसार था, और किसी को भी नुकसान न पहुँचाता था। बच्चे और कुत्ते भी उसके साथ खेलते थे। वह कुत्तों के साथ एक ही प्लेट में खाता था। उसे सेब खाने की बहुत इच्छा थी पर वह अपने आप को धरती पर पड़े सेबों को देखकर संतुष्ट कर लेता था। सिर्फ रात को उसे जंजीर से बाँध कर रखा जाता था।
रविवार को उसे जंजीर से बाँध कर रखा जाता था क्योंकि मालकिन उस दिन अपनी शादी-शुदा बहिन के साथ बिताने जाती थी। एक ऐसे ही रविवार को आधे रास्ते में उसे टहनियों के टूटने की आवाज आई। जब उसने मुड़कर देखा तो वह देखकर डर गई कि भालू बहुत तेज गति से आ रहा था। महिला बहुत नाराज हुई। वह उस पर चिल्लाई और उसके नाक पर भी मारा। बडी कठिनाई से भालू वापस मुड़ा।
जब महिला वापस आई, तो वह बहुत नाराज हुई। वह भालू को डाँटने गई पर रसोइए ने समझाया कि भालू ने बहुत अच्छा व्यवहार किया था। उस समय महिला ने महसूस हुआ कि वह किसी अन्य भालू से मिली थी।
